Since its foundation in 1946, Washington Elementary has certainly evolved over the years. In the face of these changes, the strong spirit of the Washington Eagles has always flown sky-high. In 2012, the Eagles were able to call a new school home - a 78,000-square-foot elementary school designed by our team. The Clearfield, Utah school not only accommodates 650 K-6 students, but also supports the Davis Community Learning Center (DCLC) - a partnership between Davis School District, United Way of Salt Lake, and several community resource agencies. Our design process involved careful coordination and cooperation with multiple public sector agencies, which was critical to the project's success. To reduce the project costs and physical impact on the local community, the school was built adjacent to the existing school building, on property then occupied by Clearfield City Park. Construction of the school was carefully phased so students could attend classes at the existing facility uninterrupted, and without having to be relocated away from their community. Upon completion of the new building, the existing school was demolished to make way for improved playground and outdoor learning areas and the relocation and upgrade of Clearfield City Park. This new proximity greatly enhanced design function and promoted increased community use of both playground and park facilities. The award-winning school is a beacon of learning for Davis School District and a safe, inspiring haven for the soaring Wasatch Eagles to land.
