The Serpa Pinto Apartment Remodel is an ongoing transformation of a compact, multi-level apartment in the heart of Porto. Situated on the 4th floor of a building from the 1980s, the original layout was highly compartmentalized, with small, separate rooms limiting both functionality and natural light. This renovation reimagines the interior with a clean, contemporary design, emphasizing openness and flexibility.
On the ground floor, walls dividing the kitchen, dining, and living areas are being removed to create a seamless open space, enhancing the sense of volume and connection. The restroom is being minimized to essentials and repositioned beneath the staircase to optimize layout efficiency.
The first floor will feature two redesigned bedrooms connected by a large sliding door. This flexible design will allow the space to function as two independent rooms, an expanded single suite, or a combination of bedroom and office, adapting to the occupants’ needs. A larger, more functional restroom will complete this level.
In the attic, the design accommodates a versatile suite with an integrated restroom. This space will be adaptable as a private bedroom, an office, a children’s playroom, or any other use that suits the residents’ lifestyle.
As construction progresses, the Serpa Pinto Apartment Remodel is taking shape, transforming a once-constrained interior into a modern, light-filled home designed for flexibility and contemporary living.
