The Sinde Monteiro Residence, located along the Douro Riverfront near the Arrábida Bridge, is a revitalizing mixed-use development built on the site of the former Sinde Monteiro drying cod factory. The project combines modern living with historical elements, offering a blend of commercial and residential spaces.
The residential complex is divided into two distinctive blocks. The first features 20 contemporary apartments, characterized by a sleek design of glass, concrete, and aluminum, with continuous balconies offering stunning views of the river. The second block preserves the original shell of the existing factory warehouse, incorporating a vivid color for its exterior, and provides space for 11 lofts, designed to embrace the building’s industrial charm.
Accessible via Bicalho Street at the back, the development includes a car park situated between the commercial store and the apartments. In the space between the two blocks, a communal patio serves as both a welcoming entrance and a gathering spot, providing residents with a scenic view of the river and the iconic Arrábida Bridge. This project was designed in collaboration with architect Pedro Balonas.
