Holladay, Utah, is home to Knudsen’s Corner, a historically significant landmark at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon, where 6200 South meets Holladay Boulevard. Named for Rasmus Knudsen, a Danish immigrant who established sawmills, flour and grain mills, a summer camp with an outdoor café, and a small restaurant and store, Knudsen’s Corner has long been a hub of industry and community.
The 8-acre Knudsen Nature Park celebrates the area's natural and cultural history with thoughtfully designed amenities, including a nature-themed playground, interpretive signs, preserved historic oak groves with picnic and relaxation areas, and a historically themed water pump—an homage to the mills of the past. Visitors can enjoy a stabilized footbridge and viewing areas along Big Cottonwood Creek, as well as easy access to an improved bike route equipped with repair workstations. The park also extends regional trail connections to Big Cottonwood Trail, Heughs Canyon, and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail, offering endless opportunities for exploration.
Delivered in a design/build partnership with Hughes General Contractors, the park’s pavilion structures blend seamlessly with the natural setting through a streamlined design and natural finishes. Throughout the project, the team engaged with the community, sharing concepts and updates. Construction of the award-winning park was completed in October 2018.
